CHRA Student Spotlight: Exploring Hindu Temples in the UAE

CHRA MA student Lubnah showed work as part of Domestic Departures: (Im)mobility, Loss, and Resilience in An Uncertain World (23–25 November 2024). Convened by Alserkal Arts Foundation in Dubai (UAE), the workshop featured multidisciplinary work by Ansari and five other recipients of Alserkal Arts Foundation research grants. Ansari’s Tracing Temple Ties explores the shifting landscape of Mandirs (Hindu temples) in the UAE. Through ethnographic fieldwork and visual documentation, the material unravels curiosities about how social dynamics mutate across borders and leak into each other, remaining perpetually in flux. The research for Tracing Temple Ties was shared in presentation, installation, and zine formats.
