CHRA Alumni Spotlight: Leave the Community Alone

For her thesis project, CHRA graduate Isabella Indolfi developed and presented a research-based lecture performance titled Leave the Community Alone. The performance explores the politics and ethics of “community art” in rural contexts, reflecting in part on Indolfi’s own decade-long curatorial practice before joining CHRA. Since graduating from the MA program in 2023, Indolfi has presented her research in New York City and Manchester, UK. Most recently, she developed it into a course offering at the School of Making Thinking (Winter 2025). Indolfi has also resumed her curatorial practice. In June 2024, she curated and produced the exhibition Aliens (PS122, New York)—which offered a perspective on the politics of land and nature through two artists, Adam Vackar and Supermrin. In October 2024, she co-curated the 16th Cyfest, Media Art Festival (Yerevan, Armenia), and served on the Selection Committee of the Brooklyn Arts Council. Indolfi is an independent curator and currently runs the Seminaria Biennale of Public Art in Maranola, Italy. Visit her personal website at www.isabellaindolfi.it.
