Oscar Gardea is a scholar, mask maker, and ghostwriter. His research focuses on intersections of organized crime and ritual violence, as well as myth and the manifold voices of the supernatural. He has been active in counterculture for two decades, focusing on human rights and the prevention of the systematic elimination of lives in the third world. An alumnus of CHRA’s MA Program, Oscar also holds a PhD in Philosophy, Art, and Critical Thought from the European Graduate School, supervised by Fred Moten who conferred the degree Magna Cum Laude. He is currently a doctoral candidate at the Angewandte in Vienna.
